Becoming a Club Roulez Électrique Ambassador: Much More Than a Referral Code!
10 min read By Philippe Beaudoin
A highly active ambassador shares his results, methods and tips: finding your first guests, supporting them, following up and working with other ambassadors.
What if sharing your passion for electric vehicles could also earn you rewards?
That is exactly one of the opportunities offered by the Club Roulez Électrique ambassador program. But behind the invitations, points and rewards, there are above all human stories, mutual support and sometimes a lot of time invested!
Today, we invite you to discover the experience of a particularly active ambassador who agreed to share his results, his methods and some of his advice.
His journey shows that with motivation, patience and a real desire to help others, it is possible to build an impressive network.
But be careful: being an ambassador isn't just about handing out your referral code and waiting for the points to pile up!
One ambassador, 175 sign-ups and over 300,000 points!
Let's start with a few numbers that give a good idea of the program's potential.
This ambassador joined the Club in July and, in just a few months, achieved remarkable results:
- Over 300,000 points earned, worth $3,000.
- Over 200 invitations sent.
- 175 people signed up for the Club.
- Of these, 125 people registered a charging station.
- The other 50 members had not yet registered a station.
Impressive, isn't it?
But what makes his story particularly interesting is that he does all of this alongside a full-time job.
His secret? He spends about two to three hours a day, seven days a week, on this personal activity.
That represents a considerable investment of time and energy.
So keep one thing in mind: these results illustrate what one highly involved ambassador managed to achieve. They represent neither an average nor a promise of rewards for other participants.
And above all, you absolutely don't need to spend that much time to be a good ambassador!
Do you need to be an expert to become an ambassador?
This is probably one of the first questions many people ask.
The answer is simple: no!
You don't need to be an engineer, electrician, IT specialist or networking expert to become a Club ambassador.
That said, being somewhat comfortable with technology can be very useful.
For example, when a guest has trouble connecting their station, it helps to know a few things about:
- Wi-Fi networks and signal quality.
- The differences between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.
- Android phones and iPhones.
- Routers and connection settings.
- Charging station manufacturers' mobile apps.
- Setup procedures for Club-compatible stations.
But don't worry: nobody knows every station, every router and every possible situation!
What matters is wanting to learn and look for solutions.
Patience is sometimes worth more than technical knowledge
Someone can drive an electric vehicle for ten years and never have needed to set up a Wi-Fi network!
For some, connecting a station takes five minutes. For others, it can turn into a real adventure.
That's where a good ambassador makes all the difference.
Knowing how to listen, ask the right questions, explain the steps simply and stay calm are often more important qualities than knowing every technical detail.
And when you don't know the answer? There's no shame in saying so!
You can check the guides, ask another ambassador for advice or point your guest to the appropriate resources.
A good ambassador isn't the one who knows everything, but the one who knows how to support others.
How do you find your first guests?
At first, there's no need to try to reach hundreds of people!
The easiest way is often to start with the people around you.
A friend who just bought their first electric vehicle? A neighbour who owns a compatible station? A coworker interested in charging rewards?
Those are already great opportunities to introduce the Club.
Word of mouth also remains one of the best ways to spread the word about the program.
Social media can be a valuable ally
Some ambassadors also choose to promote the Club on Facebook or in various electric vehicle communities.
Others go even further by creating their own invitation cards, with their referral code and a short explanation of the program.
What matters is to favour natural conversations, respect group rules and not turn every conversation into an advertisement!
Someone who receives good advice will usually be much more receptive than someone who is simply handed an invitation code.
Your guests' satisfaction is your best advertising
A member who is happy with their experience may spontaneously talk about the Club to their friends, coworkers or family.
That's why the quality of support plays a role as important as recruitment.
The Club also offers recognition to recommended ambassadors, according to the program's official criteria.
So it's not just about inviting lots of people, but also about helping give them a positive experience.
Signing up is only the beginning of the adventure!
This is probably one of this ambassador's most important tips.
When someone accepts your invitation and signs up for the Club, the work isn't necessarily over.
Sometimes you need to help them understand how the program works, register their station and set up the connection needed to transmit charging data.
Some members manage on their own.
Others need a little help.
And a few will need more extensive support!
Preparing your own tools can save a lot of time
Our ambassador has developed resources to make his work easier.
These can include illustrated guides, explainer videos, troubleshooting procedures or ready-made messages to answer common questions.
Imagine having to explain the same connection procedure twenty times!
Rather than starting over each time, a well-designed guide lets the guest progress at their own pace.
These tools take a bit of work up front, but they quickly become valuable allies.
And why not share these resources with other ambassadors?
We'll come back to that!
Support: sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes an hour!
Based on the experience shared, helping a guest can take between 15 and 60 minutes, with an average of about 30 minutes.
Of course, it all depends on the situation.
Sometimes, you just need to explain where to find the station's serial number.
Other times, you need to check Wi-Fi settings, figure out why the station is no longer communicating or guide the guest through several setup steps.
Support can be provided by email, by phone or through the available communication tools.
Some ambassadors even occasionally choose to help someone directly at their home.
This obviously remains an entirely personal and optional initiative.
No one is required to offer home visits, and any help must stay within one's own skills. Electrical work is reserved for licensed professionals.
Being an ambassador doesn't mean being available 24 hours a day, either!
It's important to respect your own availability and set reasonable limits.
The little secret of very active ambassadors: follow-up!
Inviting someone is one thing.
Making sure they truly benefit from the Club is another!
The ambassador who shared his experience places a lot of importance on follow-ups.
Here are some of the practices he has developed.
A few days after sign-up
It can be helpful to get back in touch with a new guest about two days after they sign up.
A simple message is often enough:
"Hi! I just wanted to check that everything is going well with your sign-up and whether you need help connecting your station."
This small gesture can keep a member from giving up after running into a problem.
After the station's first connection
When a guest's station connects for the first time, why not send them a personalized welcome message?
It's a chance to confirm that everything seems to be working properly and to ask whether the instructions were clear enough.
It's also a great way to gather feedback to improve your own guides.
When a station disconnects regularly
Connection issues are unfortunately part of the reality of connected devices.
A new router, a weak Wi-Fi signal, a password change or an update can sometimes interrupt communication.
When the available tools make it possible to spot these situations, an ambassador can offer help to a guest whose station disconnects frequently.
A preventive intervention can sometimes avoid several weeks of frustration.
What about members who haven't registered their station yet?
They aren't necessarily uninterested!
Some are waiting for their equipment to be installed. Others have a station that isn't compatible yet, or simply haven't had time to finish signing up.
A courteous follow-up after a few weeks, for example six weeks, can help you better understand their situation.
The goal isn't to pressure them, but to offer help at the right time.
Stay informed to better inform your guests
Club Roulez Électrique is constantly evolving.
New features appear, new stations become compatible and some programs may be enhanced or changed.
An ambassador who follows official communications can pass relevant information on to their guests.
But caution is also needed.
A feature in development isn't necessarily an available feature!
It's essential to present information transparently, especially when it comes to points, rewards, eligibility requirements or equipment compatibility.
It's always better to say "I'll check" than to give uncertain information.
Why not help each other as ambassadors?
Here is an aspect of the program that especially deserves to be developed: collaboration between ambassadors.
Some know Wallbox stations inside out.
Others have mastered EVduty connection procedures, Wi-Fi issues or the quirks of Android devices.
Others still excel at creating guides, supporting new members or communication.
Why should everyone start from scratch on their own?
By sharing knowledge, screenshots, tutorials and solutions, the whole community can benefit.
An ambassador facing a problem with equipment they know less well could also ask a more experienced colleague for advice.
The common goal remains the same: helping members get the most out of Club Roulez Électrique.
Collaboration is often far more beneficial than competition!
What if you only have a few hours a month?
It bears repeating: not all ambassadors have the same goals.
Some want to build a large network and spend several hours a week on this activity.
Others simply want to recommend the Club to a few friends, neighbours or family members.
Both approaches are perfectly valid.
You can be an excellent ambassador with five guests, just as you can with 150!
What matters is offering support suited to your skills, your availability and the needs of the people you invite.
You don't need to build a library of tutorials, follow up daily or provide advanced technical support to take part in the program.
Every ambassador can develop their own way of contributing.
An ambassador's true success isn't measured in points alone!
The experience we've just presented is remarkable.
Over 300,000 points, 175 sign-ups and 125 stations registered in just a few months: results that show what the program can do when someone decides to get actively involved.
But behind these numbers are, above all, dozens of hours spent explaining, guiding, troubleshooting, reassuring and supporting other EV drivers.
And that is probably where the true value of the ambassador program lies.
Because beyond the rewards, every newly connected station, every problem solved and every satisfied member helps our community grow.
A good ambassador isn't defined only by the number of people they invite, but also by the quality of the experience they help provide.
So whether you want to invite three friends or build a large network, remember that every contribution counts!
